About The Honourable Philip Hallen SC
Orange Chambers is proud to have the Honourable Philip Hallen SC as an honorary member of Chambers. Mr Hallen has been an avid supporter of rural, regional, and remote legal communities over a substantial period. He has been, and remains, a regular speaker at legal seminars in country regions of New South Wales.
Mr Hallen was appointed as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in July 2010 and then as a Justice of the Supreme Court in November 2012. He was the Family Provision List Judge from March 2013 until February 2020, and then the Succession List Judge until his retirement in August 2023.
Prior to Mr Hallen’s appointment to the Supreme Court, he practised in Equity, Succession, Trusts, Commercial & Property Law, and Family Law. With more than 40 years’ experience in civil litigation as a solicitor, barrister, Senior Counsel, and then as a Judge, he is available to act as a mediator, facilitator, and as a Farm Debt Mediator with the Rural Assistance Authority.
He is an accredited mediator and is included in the Bar Association’s General Accredited Mediator’s List.
